In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in PTI, it is learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in unlikely to rush ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the ODI series against Australia. The governing body has decided to keep Jasprit Bumrah fresh for India’s upcoming important assignments in World Test Championship Final and the ODI World Cup.
Bumrah did the rounds when a fuss was created related to his selection in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He originally was not named in the ODI series squad for Sri Lanka and then was added to the team as a late addition after the medical team deemed him fit to play.
The pacer complained about stiffness in his back and governing body decided to keep Bumrah fresh for India’s upcoming important assignments. It was expected that he would make a comeback in the Tests against Australia.
But this hasn’t been the case as he was not named in the squad for the first two games. And recent reports suggest that he will miss the remaining two Tests and the ODI series as well. The reports also suggested that he will make a comeback through IPL, during which his workload will be monitored.
Bumrah notably, has been out of cricketing action since September 2022. He suffered a back injury and was ruled out of the T20 World Cup.
