Jasprit Bumrah’s sensational five-wicket-haul against KKR

KKR actually had a fine start after losing the toss. They got to their first fifty opening partnership of the season with Venkatesh Iyer making a quickfire 43. After the loss of his wicket, Nitish Rana continued his good form by scoring 43 runs from 26 deliveries. The team was in a good situation to make a good score and Andre Russell then entered the scene. He got a huge six pretty early in the innings and Mumbai Indians were under pressure.

However, as if on a cue, Rohit Sharma brought Jasprit Bumrah to tackle Andre Russell and almost instantly, the move paid dividends. Bumrah got Russell’s wicket and not stopping there, he also took the scalps of Nitish Rana, Sheldon Jackson, Pat Cummins and Sunil Narine. Bumrah’s spell was full of energy and all of his wickets came from shorter length deliveries. It was a brilliant show by the pacer and as expected, there was plenty of praise for him. KKR, who had at one point been at 123-3, had to be satisfied with a score of 165-9. Bumrah ended with the figures of 4-1-10-5, his best in the tournament.
