The ICC World Test Championship 2023 is keeping every cricket lover on their toes. Things are getting intense as we approach the summit clash of the championship. The final is set to take place from June 7 to 11 at the Oval with a reserve day in place (12 June). Australia has qualified for the summit clash but there’s still no surety about the other finalists. Sri Lanka and India are the two teams in contention and both have a fair chance to face Australia in the final.
Qualification scenario for Team India for World Test Championship Final after loss in the Indore Test against Australia Â
Indian Cricket Team has done a reasonably good job in the ongoing Test series against Australia. Their thumping innings and 132 runs win in the first Test and 6 wickets win in Delhi Test against Australia put them really close to the final of the Test Championship.
But the loss against Australia in the third Test in Indore came as obstacle for them. Things have become slightly bleaker for them. Although there’s still a strong chance for them to qualify but one cannot predict anything in the game of cricket.
For them to qualify, they now need to win the last Test against Australia in Ahmedabad. If they managed to win the match, they without any obstacle will qualify for the final of the World Test Championship.
Qualification scenario for India for WTC final:
– Win the 4th Test vs Australia

– Sri Lanka losing or drawing one Test vs New Zealand.

However, even if they didn’t win the last game they still have the chance to qualify. But they would be wanting some results to go in their favour. They would want New Zealand to beat Sri Lanka in at least one game and if that happens they are through even if they lose the last two games.
They are placed second on the points table of WTC 2023 with 10 wins from 17 games and have 123 points to their name with a win percentage of 60.29. Their qualification is now very much in their hands as they need to win the last game against Australia to play the final.
