Veteran India and Rajasthan Royals off-spinner have picked his captain for the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that he does not doubt that Aiden Markram will be named as the skipper of the franchise as It was an extraordinary SA20 season for him where he scored runs and picked up wickets as well.

The inaugural edition of the SAT20 league saw the enthralling battle between bat and ball and gave immense entertainment to the fans. Sunrisers Eastern Cape has been crowned the winners of the tournament as they displayed a staggering brand of cricket throughout the tournament.
The main architect behind their success in the tournament was skipper Aiden Markram. Not only did he captain the side well but the all-rounder led from the front and it’s fair to say that he was the best batter in the tournament. With the bat, he scored 366 runs in 12 matches at an average of 33.27 and a strike rate of 127.97.

His best came in the semi-final when he smashed 100 off 58 balls to knock out Joburg Super Kings. With the ball, he was not behind as bagged 11 wickets with his off-spin at an average of 14.63 and an economy rate of 6.19.
Markram’s performance in the SAT20 makes him a front-runner for the role of captain in the IPL 2023 for SRH. The proteas batter was retained by the franchise
ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. With the team in need of a new skipper and him leading his team to glory in SAT20, he surely would be under consideration.
R Ashwin names Aiden Markram as Sunrisers Hyderabad captain for IPL 2023
Following Aiden Markram’s heroics in the SAT20, R Ashwin has lavished rich praise on him. The off-spinner feels that he will be named the captain of SRH for the IPL 2023. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he said:
“Aiden Markram proved why he is a star. He had to have a good season and that is why Sunrisers had backed him. I have no doubt Aiden Markram will be the captain for Sunrisers Hyderabad as well in the IPL. It was an extraordinary SA20 season for him. He scored runs and picked up wickets as well.”
Aiden Markram said, "I'm open for IPL captaincy if given an opportunity, but it's all upto the management. I enjoy doing that. It'll be a nice experience".

It remains to be seen if Markram will be given the responsibility to lead the team in the IPL or not.
