It was clear that Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam were back to their old selves in the semi-final triumph against New Zealand that propelled Pakistan to the final. They knocked in crucial runs, and Pakistan was able to reach their target of 153 with five balls to spare.

Against New Zealand on Wednesday at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the first semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup, Pakistan prevailed by seven wickets thanks to a disciplined bowling performance. Babar Azam scored 53 runs off 42 balls, and Mohammad Rizwan scored 57 runs off 43 balls to lead their team. After New Zealand elected to bat, the Men in Green kept them to 152/4 and then chased down the mark in 19.1 overs to secure their spot in the championship game.

The bowling was led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, who took two wickets for twenty-four runs, while the rest of the team kept their economy rates under 8.5 runs per over. New Zealand was led by Daryl Mitchell’s undefeated 53 off of 36 balls, but they were held in check by Kane Williamson’s nervous 46 off of 42 deliveries.

However, the Pakistani openers, who had not done much so far in the competition, responded by putting up a 105-run opening-wicket partnership. Mohammad Haris continued their success by scoring 30 runs off 26 balls.
