Former Delhi Capitals leg-spinner Amit Mishra sent a message to Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Moeen Ali after he mercilessly attacked the Rajasthan Royals bowlers in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League earlier tonight. CSK captain MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first at the Brabourne Stadium tonight in IPL 2022.

CSK lost the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad in the first over itself as Trent Boult got the Rajasthan Royals off a great start. However, Moeen Ali arrived in the middle next and turned the momentum in Chennai Super Kings’ favor. Ali dispatched the Rajasthan Royals bowlers and targeted the team’s ace fast bowler Trent Boult.

During the final over of the powerplay, Ali smacked five fours and a six off Boult’s bowling and completed his half-century off just 19 deliveries. While Ali could not complete his maiden IPL century, he helped the Chennai Super Kings finish with a 150-run total in the first innings.

Reacting to the power-packed performance from Moeen, Amit Mishra wrote on Twitter:

Moeen Ali fell 7 runs short of his maiden IPL hundred

Moeen Ali was in some form tonight as he scored more than 50% of the runs for the Chennai Super Kings team. Fans should note that Ali had not scored a single half-century in IPL 2022 prior to this game. He fired all cylinders tonight and scored 93 runs off 57 deliveries, smacking a total of 13 fours and three sixes.

Unfortunately, he did not receive much support from the other batters as the Chennai Super Kings ended with 150/6 in 20 overs. Captain MS Dhoni was the only other batter who scored more than 25 runs. He scored 26 runs off 28 deliveries for CSK. Yuzvendra Chahal and Obed McCoy picked up two wickets each for RR.
