Gujarat Titans couldn’t be any happier after beating Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was a must-win game for both teams in order to make it to the final.
However, as it turned out, Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans had the last laugh in the battle. The five-time IPL champions were outsmarted by the defending champions across all facets of the game.
Batting first, Gujarat Titans largely benefitted from Shubman Gill’s mesmerizing century. He scored 129 off 60 balls where he hammered as many as 10 sixes and seven fours during his stay at the crease.
His amazing knock powered Gujarat Titans to a colossal 233/3 in their designated quota of 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan scored 43 off 31 balls including five fours and a six.

In response, Mumbai Indians did ensure to put up a great fight in the first half of the game. Judging by their performances in the first 12 overs, it seemed like they were in the game and it was evenly balanced.
However, after Suryakumar Yadav’s departure, Mumbai Indians lost the plot and never really recovered from the setback. Mumbai Indians went on to lose the game by 62 runs.
Gujarat Titans got the better of Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier and made it to the second successive IPL final. They will take on Chennai Super Kings in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
