Social networking sites have made it easier for a person to express his/her thoughts or opinions freely, with certain guidelines. This not only includes the common man, but also the celebrities and the people who are always under the spotlight.

Many of the Indian Cricketers are also known to have shared this spotlight with their online presence. Many of these cricketers also continue to maintain a healthy presence on the various social media platforms. But, at times, this presence does not necessarily paint them in a good picture. This is because, at times their comments or, in this particular case, their Tweets manage to grab the attention of a larger audience. And, hence, it leads to controversies or a spat amongst one another.

Let us look at the 5 most controversial Tweets by Indian Cricketers.

1. Ambati Rayudu:

One of the most stable performers of the game, Ambati Rayudu has often found himself involved in various controversial events. His on-field spat with Harbhajan Singh in 2016 and the ban by BCCI for arguing with the umpires, were some of the major controversial events in his career. However, the ‘3D’ Tweet by him can be considered to be his most controversial act so far.

Rayudu was up for the selection into the Indian Cricket Team for the 2019 World Cup. But, his poor form seemed to have made the selectors question their options. The selectors were in favor of Vijay Shankar for his ‘three-dimensional’ contributions to help Team India’s performance. To this, taking a dig at the selectors, Rayudu sarcastically Tweeted, Just ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the World Cup.”

However, this instance is slightly different from his usual banters. A fan posted a video on Twitter. It was a video of the 2001 Kolkata Test match, where Bhajji became the first Indian cricketer to take a hat-trick in Test Cricket.

Adam Gilchrist, one of the batsmen dismisses in Bhajji’s hat-trick, took a cheeky dig by expressing his disappointment for the absence of DRS in the earlier stages of cricket. Harbhajan Singh felt Gilly was trying to question his achievement. He replied, asking Adam to ‘stop crying’ over the dismissal. The off-spinner, however, deleted the tweet after receiving a lot of backlash from the fans.
