Kolkata Knight Riders locked horns with Punjab Kings in the 53rd game of the ongoing edition of the IPL. The game took place at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The two-time IPL champions defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous game and kept their playoffs hopes alive. Talking about the game between KKR and PBKS, Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and opted to bat first.

The Mohali-based franchise posted a competitive total of 179 for the loss of seven wickets in their quota of 20 overs. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 57 off 47 balls with the help of nine fours and a six to his name.

In response, the likes of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Jason Roy got off to a terrific start to the game by adding 38 runs for the opening wicket before Nathan Ellis trapped Rahmanullah Gurbaz for 15.

However, Jason Roy kept going about his business as he scored 38 off 24 balls before he was dismissed by Harpreet Brar. Nitish Rana played pretty well in the run-chase as he scored 51 off 38 balls including six fours and a six.

Andre Russell and Rinku Singh spice it up for KKR in the run-chase

Andre Russell hogged the limelight with his destructive batting. He scored 42 off 23 balls including three fours and three sixes before he was run out by Arshdeep Singh. However, Rinku Singh scored the winning runs for KKR in the climax as he scored a boundary off Arshdeep Singh. Rinku scored 21 off 10 balls (2 fours and a six).
