Chennai Super Kings kick-started their IPL 2023 campaign with a defeat against Gujarat Titans in the tournament opener at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After suffering a defeat, CSK went on to win back-to-back games.

The yellow army won the second game against Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs to open their account in style. After that, MS Dhoni and Co got the better of Mumbai Indians in their third game.

The four-time IPL champions got the better of Mumbai Indians by seven wickets at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. CSK will lock horns with Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming fixture at Chepauk Stadium tonight.

Maheesh Theekshana has joined CSK for IPL 2023

In what comes as a major boost to Chennai Super Kings, Sri Lankan international Maheesh Theekshana has now joined Chennai Super Kings for the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League.

For the record, Chennai Super Kings signed the Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana as a replacement for injured Adam Milne in the IPL 2022 edition. CSK retained Maheesh Theekshana ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction.

He didn’t feature for the franchise in the first three games of this season since he was busy with international commitments. Maheesh Theekshana was playing for the national cricket team in the three-match T20I series against the New Zealand cricket team.

New Zealand won the series by 2-1 and now that the international duty is over, the IPL-bound players are gradually returning back to their respective IPL teams now.

Earlier, Wanindu Hasaranga joined Royal Challengers Bangalore squad on April 10. Now, Maheesh Theekshana has joined CSK for the ongoing edition. The off-break bowler has played as many as nine games in the IPL wherein he took 12 wickets to his name at an economy of 7.45.

He registered his best bowling figures of 4/33 including one four-wicket haul and will be looking forward to helping CSK this season.
