Indian skipper Rohit Sharma hasn’t been in good form of late in One-Day Internationals. The veteran Indian cricketer has often been able to get off to good starts but failed to convert them into big scores.
During the first ODI between India and New Zealand, skipper Rohit Sharma got off to a very good start. He smashed 4 boundaries and 2 sixes during his stay at the crease, accumulating 34 off 38 balls at a strike rate of 89.47.
While he was batting so well, he fell prey to Blair Tickner’s delivery. Rohit Sharma misjudged the length while going for the shot as Daryl Mitchell took the catch in his safe pair of hands.
There is no need to worry about Rohit Sharma’s ODI batting: Irfan Pathan
Soon after his dismissal, several netizens expressed their frustration about Rohit Sharma’s failures to convert his starts into significant scores. While the fans are worried about Rohit Sharma’s form factor, the former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan doesn’t think so.
The former Indian paceman highlighted the fact that Rohit Sharma has played some really good shots and that there is absolutely no need to worry about his ODI batting.
He further reserved the highest respect for the Indian skipper by calling him a “legend”. Rohit Sharma boasts very good statistics as far as the 50-over format is concerned.
Popularly known as “Hitman”, Rohit Sharma scored 9630 runs in 239 ODIs at a scintillating batting average of 48.64. He is the only batsman in the history of ODIs to hit 3 double centuries to his name.
Overall, he has slammed 29 centuries and 47 fifties to his name. Under Rohit’s captaincy, Team India kick-started the ongoing calendar year with a 3-0 ODI series win over Sri Lanka.
Currently, Team India are involved in the ODI series against the New Zealand cricket team. Rohit Sharma and Co won the ODI series opener by 12 runs in Hyderabad and took a 1-0 lead in the series.

There is a need to worry as WC is approaching. He needs to find his form before that, just like Kohli found his before T20 WC.
