The cricket fraternity witnessed the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship Final between Team India and New Zealand. Team India failed to find a way to win the game whereas New Zealand came out on top much to India’s annoyance as they won the WTC title in the first cycle.

India’s defeat in the final was a dagger to their hearts as they have been in the hunt for the ICC title since 2013. However, India went through a transition last year where they appointed Rohit Sharma as the captain.

Under his captaincy, Team India performed considerably well including the famous 2-1 Test series win over Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Now, they have reached the finals of the World Test Championship for the second consecutive time.

It is entirely up to the Indians to take the responsibility on their shoulders and get the job done in the tough battle against the Aussies and it won’t be an easy challenge for sure.

Meanwhile, veteran Indian commentator, Sunil Gavaskar made an interesting statement in the build-up to the WTC Final 2023, which is slated to be held at The Oval on June 7.

The commentator has backed Team India to out-bat the Aussies in the final. The Kennington Oval is a batting-friendly wicket and hence we can expect the batters to go all guns blazing against the bowling attack.

The team that makes use of their batters properly are destined to get a desirable result. It remains to be seen whether or not how the Indians would approach the important final.
