“We will try and find time to get them to the UK early,” Rohit Sharma opens up about the preparations for the WTC Final during IPL 2023

IPL 2023 will end on 28th May whereas WTC Final is slated to take pace on 7th June.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has opened up about the preparations for the WTC Final during IPL 2023. He said that they will give duke balls to the bowlers during the league and also will monitor the workload of the players. He added that they will try to send players from 6 teams who will not make it into the playoffs to the UK early for the preparations.

“We are sending some Duke Balls to all fast bowlers,” Rohit Sharma on preparations for the WTC Final 2023 during IPL 

India has qualified for the final of the WTC 2023. They will face Australia in the summit clash between the 7th to 11th of June in Oval England. The game will hold extreme importance for the Rohit Sharma-led side as they are yet to win the ICC trophy since 2013.

On the other hand, IPL 2023 is also around the corner and it’s fair to say that there’ll be very less time for India to prepare for the WTC Final 2023. There have been a lot of speculations about how the team will prepare as Australia will be an extremely different side in English conditions.

Skipper Rohit Sharma has now opened up about the preparations of the team for the WTC Final during IPL 2023. He revealed that they will send duke balls to the players and if they get time during the league, they can practice. Speaking to reporters, he said:

“Look, I think its quite critical for us, we re going to keep in constant touch with all players who are going to play that final and monitor their workload and see what’s happening with them. In fact, we are sending some Duke Balls to all fast bowlers and if they get some time to bowl with that but again it all depend individuals, guys who will be part of finals are not the guys who have not played in UK and may be one or two guys here and there and rest all of us have played in that part of the world.,”

“Whichever players are available, we will try and find time to get them to UK early,” Rohit Sharma on preparations for the WTC final 

Rohit Sharma further elaborated that players of the 6 franchises that will not qualify for the playoffs might be sent early to the UK. He further added:

“I don’t think it will be a huge problem and but yeah, look I believe in preparation and preparations will be key for us come to the finals. Around 21st May, there will be six teams who will be possibly out of IPL play-off contention and so whichever players are available, we will try and find time to get them to UK early as possible and get some time and we will monitor as much as possible.”

IPL 2023 will kick start from 31st March and it’ll be two-month-long tournament with the final set to take place on 28th May. It remains to be seen how Indian Test-affiliated players will prepare themselves for the WTC final amid the hectic schedule.
