It is tough to score runs under pressure in the knock-out stage of IPL. However, a few players thrive under pressure and as shown in the below stat, CSK players are good performers when they are under the pump. Of the eight players who have scored the most runs in IPL Playoffs + Finals, seven of them belong to Chennai Super Kings. The highest is by Suresh Raina, a record of 714 runs that is hard to beat.

It also needs to be noted that CSK has reached the playoff stage consistently. Leaving two editions in the seasons in which they have participated, CSK has been part of the playoffs in all the other seasons. They have also reached nine finals, winning four of them. It is a terrific record and very few teams are close to this consistency.
The four-time champions will look for a strong comeback in IPL 2023
IPL 2022, though, was a setback for the defending champions. After winning IPL 2021, CSK was expected to repeat the same performance. However, they failed to win sufficient games and eventually had to be knocked out of the competition.
Nevertheless, it was a similar fate in IPL 2020 and CSK then made a comeback to win the trophy in IPL 2021. The fans will hope that the same happens next year. IPL 2023 is likely to be played in the home-and-away format. CSK will then operate at Chepauk, which happens to be their fortress. Before that, though, the management will have to make some wise signings in the auctions.
