India will take on England in five T20I games in the next few weeks. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who could be dropped if they fail in the England T20I series.
India’s squad for T20I series against England: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Sanju Samson (wk), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel (vc), Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Shami, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel (wk).Â
1) Abhishek Sharma
For a while now, the Punjab cricketer has been struggling at the top of the order. The rope may not extend beyond the England series.
The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal will return to the side. Players such as B Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill will also have a chance. Hence, Abhishek must be at his best.
2) Harshit Rana must perform well in the England T20I series
Harshit Rana is one of the three players who could be dropped if they fail in the England T20I series. Yes, it is his first outing for India in this format.
However, in the past few weeks, his form has not been great, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are likely to come back while Mayank Yadav is also certain of a place. Hence, Harshit must deliver to cement his spot.
3) Dhruv Jurel
Dhruv Jurel does not have performances to show for either at the domestic level nor in the IPL. It is purely based on the potential that he has been picked.
Now, the likes of Rishabh Pant and Jitesh Sharma are also in the race to be the backup wicket-keeper. If Dhruv gets a game and if he does no do well, he could even be dropped for the next series.
