Team India will now start preparing for the 2026 T20 World Cup on one side. A few players, after their displays in the recent Zimbabwe series, have strengthened their case to be a part of that squad. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players who strengthened their spot in the Indian T20I Team after the Zimbabwe T20I series.

1) Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar won the Player of the Series Award against Zimbabwe. With the ball, he exerted control and with the bat, he had a decent outing.

With Ravindra Jadeja retiring, Axar Patel would move to the No.7 role. In the recent World Cup, India used an all-rounder at No.8. If they follow the same strategy, Sundar could get more chances to cement his spot for the World Cup.

2) Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma is one of the players who strengthened their spot in the Indian T20I Team after the Zimbabwe T20I series. With so many openers available for Team India, Abhishek could have lost his spot had he had a bad run in the series.

However, he scored a century and proved that he was ready for this ball. Even with the ball, he was able to leave a mark with some good deliveries. All this bodes well for both the cricketer and the Indian Team. He is now very likely to partner with Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top.

3) Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar was the pick of the pacers for Team India against Zimbabwe. He also got a good number of wickets to his name. He has been doing well for India whenever he gets a chance. Hence, Mukesh is in a good situation right now.

Mohammed Siraj’s place could be up for grabs if he does not do well in the coming months. Mukesh Kumar has earned himself the chance to be close to the playing XI if Siraj’s form drops.
