The 2024 T20 World Cup will start soon in the West Indies and the United States of America. It has been 17 years since the first edition of the T20 World Cup happened. Back then, the T20 format was still evolving. It is still evolving but there are certain known demands from the format now. Interestingly, there is a link between these two editions when it comes to certain families. Here, we take a look at the list of two Head Coaches in the 2007 T20 WC whose relations will play in the 2024 T20 WC.
1) Kevin Curran – Sam Curran
Former Zimbabwe cricketer Kevin Curran was the Head Coach of Zimbabwe back then. Sam Curran is his son and will be one of the important players for England in the upcoming event.
When England last won the event in 2022, Sam Curran ended as the Man of the Tournament. England will expect a similar show by the youngster. Apart from with the ball, Curran will also have to deliver with the bat. He might be even promoted up the batting order because England does not have another left-hander in the middle-order apart from Moeen Ali.
2) John Bracewell – Michael Bracewell
John Bracewell is one of the Head Coaches in the 2007 T20 WC whose relations will play in the 2024 T20 WC. John Bracewell was the Head Coach of New Zealand in the first edition of the T20 World Cup. His nephew Michael will play in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Bracewell has missed a lot of cricket and he will be desperate to get back to his best. The pitches in West Indies will suit him. His off-spin bowling could be utilized by the team. Michael is also good with the bat and is more likely to be employed as a finisher. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how he goes about.
