Usually, we saw members from the same family play in the IPL. Interestingly, we also have some cases of family relations in which members get to be commentators in the league. We have a few examples in IPL 2024. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of five pairs of family relations who are commentators in IPL 2024.
1) Gundappa Viswanath and Sunil Gavaskar (Brothers-in-law)
Gundappa Viswanath and Sunil Gavaskar are a part of this list of pairs of family relations who are commentators in IPL 2024. Not many know that the legendary cricketers are related to each other.
G Viswanath is one of the greatest batters that the game has seen. The Karnataka-born legend played many games for India. For Sunil Gavaskar, he broke and set many records for Team India and across the globe. He is also one of the most popular commentators right now.
2) Sunil Gavaskar and Rohan Gavaskar (Father-Son)
Rohan Gavaskar played for Team India but could not create the impact that his father established. However, he became a popular commentator.
Many times in the past, as well, this duo has done well together as commentators. Rohan also does a good job as a commentator for the domestic games.
3) Krishnamachari Srikkanth and Anirudha Srikkanth (Father-Son)
Krishnamachari Srikkanth and Anirudha Srikkanth are a part of this list of pairs of family relations who are commentators in IPL 2024. K Srikkanth is a former India cricketer and has been a very important part of the Indian Team in the past. He was also the Chief Selector when India won the ODI World Cup in 2011.
Anirudha had a decent start to his cricket career. In the IPL, he played for teams such as CSK and SRH. However, he could not have a long and impactful career. Later on, he played in TNPL and did well. Both the father and the son are currently Tamil commentators for IPL 2024.
4) Baba Aparajith and Baba Indrajith (Brothers)
Baba Aparajith had a bright start to his career with the U19 World Cup. Many expected him to feature for the senior side. However, he could not do well later on. It needs to be said that he was a bit unlucky. Despite doing well, he never got a chance in the Indian Team nor in the IPL.
Indrajith, though, is currently doing well at the domestic level. If all goes well, he certainly has the chance to play for Team India in Tests. It would be a challenging task, though.
5) Venugopal Rao and Gnaneswara Rao (Brothers)
Venugopal Rao and Gnaneswara Rao are also a part of this list of pairs of family relations who are commentators in IPL 2024. Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, both these were a part of IPL in the past. While Venugopal won the league with the Deccan Chargers in IPL 2009, his brother was a part of the Kochi Tuskers Kerala setup.
Venugopal also played for the Indian Team. His brother was a rising all-rounder and was once the captain of the Indian U19 Team. Both of them are currently commentators in the Telugu language.
