The rivalry between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore was one of the highlights of IPL 2023. Now, in the IPL 2024 Auctions, there was some rivalry between them. For multiple players, both these teams were interested. In the end, it was LSG that signed the cricketer whenever both the squads were seriously interested. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two players targeted by RCB whom LSG signed in IPL 2024 Auctions.
1) Shivam Mavi
With Josh Hazlewood gone, RCB needed a new-ball partner for Mohammed Siraj. At the same time, LSG needed a replacement for Avesh Khan. Hence, both the franchises felt that Shivam Mavi would be an apt pick for them. He would have also added batting depth to the side.
Interestingly, Mavi did not play a single game in IPL 2023. Yet, he has increased his salary, despite recently also suffering from an injury. It all comes down to the potential of the player. He can be dangerous with the new ball and he has the age to develop his game in the other phases of the innings. Hence, LSG and RCB were interested, with LSG signing him. Later, RCB had to sign Yash Dayal as the new-ball partner for Siraj.
2) M Siddharth
M Siddharth is one of the players targeted by RCB whom LSG signed in IPL 2024 Auctions. RCB has one of the weakest spin attacks in the competition. On the other hand, LSG has one of the strongest. Since LSG plays on a track that spins a lot, they might have wanted one more spinner, possibly a backup for Krunal Pandya.
Hence, they went after Siddharth while RCB needed a spinner who had the skill to bowl in the powerplay. Hence, both teams were stuck in a war for the talented cricketer. Eventually, LSG signed the Tamil Nadu spinner.
