Mumbai Indians had a top bidding event recently. They needed to fill a few gaps for the upcoming season and they did that to perfection. In Nuwan Thushara, Dilshan Madushanka and Gerald Coetzee, MI has a solid overseas pace attack. Along with these signings, MI also made some backup hirings. A few of these players, interestingly, previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Here, we take a look at the list of two former SRH cricketers whom Mumbai Indians signed in IPL 2024 Auctions.
1) Shreyas Gopal
Shreyas Gopal was unsold in the IPL 2023 Auctions. Considering there was an Impact Player rule, it was a surprise because not long ago, Shreyas was leading the spin attack for Rajasthan Royals. Nevertheless, he now has a franchise and he will go back to Mumbai Indians, where he also won the trophy once.
It is actually an intelligent signing by MI. They needed a backup for Piyush Chawla. Although Shreyas’ recent form has not been great, as a backup, he can be very useful. While Piyush is a fast leg-spinner, Shreyas is more traditional. Hence, there is variety, as well. Moreover, Shreyas can lend a good hand with the bat and this could be needed in some matches.
2) Mohammad Nabi
Mohammad Nabi is one of the former SRH cricketers whom Mumbai Indians signed in IPL 2024 Auctions. It was a surprise when Mumbai Indians lifted the baton to sign Mohammad Nabi at the IPL 2024 Auctions. After his brilliant stint at SRH, Nabi never got going at other franchises.
Nevertheless, he is an experienced candidate and can be a good option at No.7. He can provide some useful overs of spin-bowling and he is also a very handy batter down the order. If he is in the playing XI, he can also be promoted up the order depending on the situation because he is very capable to pull it off.
