Chennai Super Kings won the title last year, exceeding a lot of expectations. Hence, naturally, the team did not make a lot of changes before the next season. They have not released a lot of players. However, there were a few players who were surprisingly on the released list. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players who were surprisingly released by CSK ahead of IPL 2024.
1) Dwaine Pretorius
Dwaine Pretorius is one of the players who were surprisingly released by CSK ahead of IPL 2024. The South African all-rounder did not get a lot of chances last season. However, it needs to be noted that the player was in fine form in CPL 2023. Hence, many expected him to be retained.
While he is good at the death, Pretorius can also be destructive with the bat. This is something that might have been needed for the outfit. However, it was a surprise that he was released.
2) Subhranshu Senapati
The Odisha cricketer was a part of the CSK setup for a while. Especially with Ambati Rayudu retiring, it was expected that the player would be a part of the plans. However, he was released ahead of the auctions.
Also, the player was in a decent touch in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Therefore, it was a bit of a surprise that he was left off from the squad. It needs to be seen if CSK would buy him back at the auctions.
3) Akash Singh
Akash Singh was a replacement signing last season. He had a good run, doing well in the chances that he got. Therefore, there were expectations that he would be retained.
However, that has not happened. Akash will now go back to the auctions. It will be interesting to see who will buy him at the bidding event.
