Dinesh Karthik was in poor form last season. Apart from his underwhelming returns with the bat, DK also made some errors with the gloves. With age catching up, RCB soon needs to find a domestic replacement for the cricketer. One option is they can go back internally and scout for talents within the state. On that note, here, we take a look at three performers from the KSCA Maharaja T20 Trophy whom RCB can target to replace Dinesh Karthik for IPL 2024.
1) KL Shrijith
The left-hander scored 393 runs at a strike rate of 141 in 11 games in the tournament. While he played in the top-order, he also has experience operating in the middle-order.
KL would be a realistic choice for RCB. He is young and has good skillsets. If not as the direct replacement for DK, he can be an option who can offer competition to Anuj Rawat for a spot in the playing XI.
2) LR Chethan
LR Chethan is one of the KSCA Maharaja T20 Trophy performers whom RCB can target to replace Dinesh Karthik for IPL 2024. The exciting batter attended trials of many franchises last season but failed to get a bid.
However, on proving consistency now, the cricketer does stand a chance for an IPL contract. Again, he is also a top-order batter but he has potential on which RCB can work with. Hence, he is also a part of this list.
3) Luvnith Sisodia
Luvnith Sisodia was a part of RCB before but did not get a game. He got injured, Rajat Patidar replaced him and Sisodia did not get a chance again.
In a similar mould to Anuj Rawat, Luvnith is a top-order batter with high intent. While his positive mindset is good, he has also proved with some good technique recently. He scored at a strike rate of 154 in the Maharaja Trophy and RCB can try and see if he can replicate this in IPL.
