Chennai Super Kings locked horns with Delhi Capitals in the 55th match of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League. Moreover, the game took place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first. However, the hosts didn’t quite live up to their reputation as a batting unit as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Shivam Dube was the pick of the batters for CSK in the batting unit as he struck 25 off 12 balls with the help of three maximums whereas MS Dhoni chipped in with 20 off 9 balls including 2 sixes and a four. On the contrary, Mitchell Marsh bowled ever so well as he registered 3/18 in 3 overs.

Delhi Capitals mess up the plot in the run-chase

Delhi Capitals might have bowled pretty well to restrict CSK to a decent total but they totally failed to bring the best out of themselves as far the run-chase is concerned.

They failed to start the game properly, courtesy of Deepak Chahar’s stunning bowling spell. He got rid of David Warner for a duck and Philip Salt for 17 runs. After that, Mitchell Marsh was run out for 5 runs.

When DC were stuttering at 25/3, Manish Pandey and Rilee Rossouw steadied the ship by adding a 59-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Matheesha Pathirana trapped Manish Pandey for 27 runs.
