Withdrawing retirement is not uncommon in the game of cricket. We have seen it several times in the past and it still happens. Especially before a major event, some players get convinced to return from retirement. Ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup, as well, there are some examples. 1) Tamim Iqbal

Ben Stokes is the latest to join this list. While he convinced Moeen Ali to withdraw his retirement before the Ashes, it was Jos Buttler‘s turn to do it to bring Ben Stokes back to the ODI setup.
It is a major coup having Stokes back in the team. He is a big-match player and is also in good form right now. This decision might, as well, be a tournament winning one.
3) Wesley Barresi
Wesley Barresi is also one of the players who recently withdrew retirement and will play in the 2023 ODI World Cup. An important cricketer for the Netherlands, Barresi has been with the squad for a long time. However, in 2021, he announced his retirement from all formats of the game.
That said, last year, the top-order batter made a return to the setup. It has been an effective one, with the Netherlands making it to the 2023 ODI World Cup.
