‘Come on Chetu, pick him’- K Srikkanth wants Chetan Sharma to pick Arshdeep Singh for the ICC World T20 2022 squad

Former Indian captain K Srikkanth has expressed his support for Arshdeep Singh’s participation in the Twenty20 World Cup that will be held in Australia in 2022. In the next few weeks, the Indian management will be aiming to choose their team in anticipation of the huge event, which is less than three months away. Because there are rotations in every department and position, it is difficult to determine who will or will not be able to go on the tour of Australia.

Since the completion of the 2021 World Cup, India’s bowling attack has featured a total of 11 different pace bowling options. In the present Twenty20 International series against the West Indies, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is in charge of a youthful squad that includes Arshdeep, Avesh Khan, and Harshal Patel. Bhuvneshwar is the only player who has officially committed to going to Australia, so it is fair to assume that he will be there. The seasoned fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been rotating in and out of the white-ball lineup as of late. The star quick Jasprit Bumrah is taking this trip off to get some relaxation.

This year, both Avesh and Harshal have played for India quite a few times, but neither player has yet to make a significant contribution to the team’s success. Avesh has played in 11 Twenty20 Internationals and has collected nine wickets while averaging 34.77 runs per over and having an economy rate of 9.11. The fact that he is getting older gives him an advantage, and in the Indian Premier League during the last two years, he has shown that he has a lot of promise. However, he has not yet shown the level of performance necessary to secure a spot on the World Cup team.

What did K Srikkanth say about Arshdeep Singh?

In contrast to Avesh, Arshdeep is off to a far stronger start in his international career, having taken wickets in each of the four matches he has participated in to this point. A month ago, he made his debut in the first Twenty20 International match against England. In the match, he claimed two wickets while only allowing 18 runs to be scored against him. During this current tour of the West Indies, he has already participated in all three of the opening Twenty20 Internationals and has bowled all of the available 12 overs. He has taken four wickets in the series, which has him in second place, and his economy rate of 6.91 is rather excellent. Srikkanth, who was also pleased by the left-arm pacer’s performances during the West Indies tour, has urged Indian national selector Chetan Sharma to include Arshdeep in the team that will compete in the World Cup.

“He (Arshdeep) will be the future no. 1 in the globe when it comes to Twenty20 Internationals. He is just in a class of his own. Remember to write it down. He will be playing for his country in the Twenty20 World Cup. Come on, Chetu,” he begged. A few weeks ago, former Indian bowler Ashish Nehra was another person who favoured Arshdeep over Avesh for the 2022 World Cup. He said that Arshdeep would do better than Avesh.
