At times, auction dynamics are such that a few players could get lucky in finding a team at the event. It was the case with a few players at the recently concluded auctions. Not many expected them to find a franchise. However, they will now feature in the next season of IPL. That said, it is a chance for these players to redeem themselves and make a statement. On that note, here, we take a look at five players who can consider themselves lucky to get a contract in IPL 2024 Auctions.

1) Mohammad Nabi

Mohammad Nabi is one of the players who can consider themselves lucky to get a contract in IPL 2024 Auctions. It was in the final stages that Mumbai Indians picked up Mohammad Nabi.

He is one player who is at the fag end of his career. If MI needed a similar player, they could have opted for someone like Michael Bracewell. However, it is not exactly sure why MI signed the veteran. Only the upcoming season will reveal more information.

2) Tom Curran

It was a big shock when RCB signed up Tom Curran. Andy Flower likes batting depth and he is a fan of the player. Hence, it was obvious that he had an influence on this signing.

However, Curran is likely to struggle at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. He neither has the pace nor the variations to do well. That said, he could do well with the bat if he gets an opportunity.

3) Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey is also one of the players who can consider themselves lucky to get a contract in IPL 2024 Auctions. Again, it was in the final stages of the auction that KKR picked up Manish Pandey at his base price.

It needs to be noted that Manish is not the greatest player of spin in recent times. Eden Gardens will turn a lot in IPL 2024. Hence, it was a surprise that KKR picked up Manish. It was also clear that this move was made due to the past relations. Nevertheless, Manish is a worthy backup for the Indian batters in the team. On his day, he could also open the innings for them.

4) Jaydev Unadkat

After his performances in the last two seasons, many expected Jaydev Unadkat to not find a franchise. However, he will represent SRH in IPL 2024. In fact, he could open the bowling for them from the first game.

The addition of Pat Cummins meant SRH could not play Marco Jansen. Hence, they had to go for a fresh new-ball partner for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Hence, the team had to sign Akash Singh and Jaydev Unadkat for IPL 2024.

5) Chris Woakes

Chris Woakes is one of the players who can consider themselves lucky to get a contract in IPL 2024 Auctions. The English all-rounder did not do well in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. He also failed to get selected to the England Test Team for the Indian Tour.

Yet, Woakes will spend two months in India next year. Especially with PBKS having Sam Curran, Kagiso Rabada and Nathan Ellis as the overseas pacers, the move to sign Woakes was surprising. Interestingly, he went for a decent sum, as well.
