As per reports, IPL 2025 will have a Mega Auction happen before it. At the moment, discussions are ongoing as to how the retentions could be managed. Hence, IPL 2024 is an important tournament for players to increase their auction value so that they get a good fee for the upcoming seasons. However, some of the players have failed to do this. Of course, a lot could happen in the next few months but right now, the value of these players has dropped down considerably. Here, we take a look at the list of four players whose auction value has come down by at least 50% after their poor show in IPL 2024.

1) Glenn Maxwell

It has been a terrible season for Glenn Maxwell, so far. For the year he had, it was expected that he would be in form in IPL 2024. However, he is struggling to buy a single run and that is shocking for a player of his stature and experience.

Considering his age and the returns this season, Maxi could struggle to get a good salary in IPL 2025. It is disappointing because he is a modern T20 player and he would have been a captaincy material for RCB had he done well in the ongoing season.

2) Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow is one of the players whose auction value has come down by at least 50% after their poor show in IPL 2024. Bairstow is struggling in IPL 2024. He is one of the cleanest hitters of the ball but has somehow failed to fire for the Punjab Kings.

Bairstow’s form for England has also not been good. Especially after his freak injury more than a year ago, Bairstow has struggled to get back to his best. With players like Phil Salt doing better, Bairstow might not be a statement signing for teams now.

3) Daryl Mitchell

Daryl Mitchell has done well in recent months. Coming into the IPL, there were plenty of expectations from the Kiwi cricketer. He was in form and had done well against spin. Mitchell had also earned himself a good salary at the IPL 2024 auctions from CSK. All was going well for him but the campaign has not turned out to be good for the player.

Considering he is a six-hitter, Mitchell has not been able to do much recently. When it comes to building an inning, as well, he is far from his best. There are many other better middle-order batters in the market now. Hence, the Kiwi has not done well for himself by having a mediocre season till now.

4) Anrich Nortje

Anrich Nortje is also one of the players whose auction value has come down by at least 50% after their poor show in IPL 2024. A few years ago, Delhi Capitals retained Anrich Nortje before the Mega Auctions. However, till now, Nortje has not been consistent and this season, his form has been terrible.

For instance, against Mumbai Indians in the last over, he gave away more than 30 runs, which was the main reason for the loss. Considering his fitness issues and his current form, he may not be worth more than INR 5 Cr in the coming auctions.
