Usually, capped Indian cricketers are rated very highly in the Indian Premier League. In the past, we saw only one or two uncapped players make their debut in a season for a franchise. However, the trend has now changed. The quality of depth in talent has improved a lot in India. Hence, we have some uncapped players being preferred over capped Indian cricketers. Due to this, some of the Indian cricketers are not getting game-time in the competition. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of four capped Indian players who did not get a single game in IPL 2024.
1) Navdeep Saini
Navdeep Saini is one of the capped Indian players who did not get a single game in IPL 2024. It was always going to be hard for Saini to get a game at Rajasthan, which already has a fine set of fast bowlers. With Trent Boult occupying one slot, it was always going to be hard for the others.
The likes of Avesh Khan, Sandeep Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav did well when they got chances. Therefore, Saini has not got a game, so far. While that could change, it is very unlikely of it happening in the playoffs.
2) Jayant Yadav
Over the last few years in his IPL career, Jayant Yadav has mostly been used as a player who would get a chance in the team when there was a need for a matchup. However, this season, GT did not have to use the Haryana cricketer.
Noor Ahmed and Rashid Khan formed a solid spin pair for the side. R Sai Kishore chipped in while Manav Suthar also got a chance to make his debut. Therefore, Jayant never got a chance to play a game in IPL 2024. For the future seasons, Jayant will be keen to develop his batting skills and add more variations to his bowling. Or else, he could go unsold in the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
3) KS Bharat
KS Bharat is also one of the capped Indian players who did not get a single game in IPL 2024. KKR had a problem with their wicket-keeper and needed a reliable Indian option. Hence, they hired KS Bharat at the auctions. They were able to get him at his base price.
Phil Salt was a revelation for KKR and hence, there was never a need for KS Bharat in the playing XI. Even with Salt leaving to join the England Team, Bharat may not get a chance as Gurbaz is likely to slot in at the top of the order.
4) Chetan Sakariya
With KKR trusting on an Indian pace core, they had to sign Chetan Sakariya. He came at his base price and it was a very useful signing for the franchise. However, the youngster from Saurashtra is yet to get a game for the side. Last season, as well, he struggled to get games at Delhi.
With Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora doing well, it was always going to be hard for Sakariya to get some games. Nevertheless, he could still get a chance if there is some injury crisis in the squad.
