It will be interesting to see whom Chennai Super Kings will pick as their next wicket-keeper. For the last 17 years, the team did not have to worry about this position. However, going forward, they need to think a lot about this role, as well. It will also be a huge gap for the incoming player to fill. Here, we take a look at three wicket-keepers whom CSK will want their respective teams to release before IPL 2025 Auctions.
1) Prabhsimran Singh – Punjab Kings
Compared to the last season, Prabhsimran Singh has not had the season he would have liked to have. Nevertheless, he is one of the first names whom PBKS might consider for retention, especially because he is an uncapped cricketer.
On the other hand, the Punjab cricketer will be the perfect choice for CSK. He is an opener, good against spin and still has plenty of years left for development. The profile is exactly what is needed for CSK at the moment if MS Dhoni retires at the end of this campaign.
2) Tristan Stubbs – Delhi Capitals
Tristan Stubbs is one of the wicket-keepers whom CSK will want their respective teams to release before IPL 2025 Auctions. It is unlikely that DC will retain Stubbs, despite his excellent displays in the ongoing edition of IPL.
This will be good news for the other teams, especially CSK. Stubbs would be a more like-to-like replacement for MS Dhoni. Recently, he has also developed his game against spin, which will further help his case.
3) Quinton de Kock – Lucknow Super Giants
CSK might, after all, not go behind a superstar name or a young sensation. This strategy has worked for them in the history of IPL.
Hence, they could target someone like QDK, who would be the profile CSK usually targets. His experience will also help Rutu at the top of the order.
