Punjab Kings have a decent squad for the next season. However, some holes do exist. Here, we take a look at the list of three weaknesses in the Punjab Kings squad for IPL 2025.
1) Unproven opening combination
The unproven opening combination is one of the weaknesses in the Punjab Kings squad for IPL 2025. Josh Inglis and Prabhsimran Singh are likely to be the openers.
This is not a tested combination. Having an IPL-experienced opener could have helped Punjab Kings in this regard.
2) No reliable left-handers in the middle order is one of the weaknesses in the Punjab Kings squad for IPL 2025
Nehal Wadhera is the only left-handed option in the middle order. In fact, for the top-order, as well, unless Priyansh Arya gets a game, PBKS is too right-handed.
Also, having Nehal at No.4 or No.5 could disturb the middle-order combination. Ideally, Shreyas Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, Shashank Singh and Marcus Stoinis must come at 3,4,5 & 6.
3) Middle-overs pace options
Punjab Kings probably made a mistake in not getting Nathan Ellis back. Now, the team has a solid opening combination with Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen.
However, the options for the middle overs are Kuldeep Sen, Vyshak V and Yash Thakur. They do not inspire a lot of confidence at the moment.
