Royal Challengers Bangalore might need some good domestic reinforcements for the next season. The franchise could target a few players who did well in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023. RCB will mainly want to focus on getting young talented batters and some wicket-keepers, as well. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three top performers in SMAT 2023 whom RCB can target for IPL 2024.

1) Harvik Desai – 336 runs in 7 games

Harvik Desai is one of the top performers in SMAT 2023 whom RCB can target for IPL 2024. The Saurashtra cricketer was one of the highest run-getters in the tournament. He played at the top of the order and since he is also a wicket-keeper, he would be in demand at the auctions.

RCB might need a lower-order batter as a wicket-keeper. However, the franchise could also rely on the skills and the form of a batter and invest in someone like Harvik. Hence, he is on this list.

2) Sameer Rizvi – 277 runs in 7 games

Sameer Rizvi is the latest kid on the block making noises for all the right reasons. There are many who rate him as one of the next big things in Indian cricket. He had a good campaign in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League and followed it up with a convincing SMAT 2023.

While he batted at No.4 for UP, he can be flexible. RCB might just need some players of this profile. His age is also another attractive investment factor for the franchise.

3) Shreyas Gopal – 12 wickets in 7 games

There are many other spinners who did better than Shreyas in SMAT 2023. However, most already are at a franchise or are too raw. In this regard, Shreyas would be a good backup to have, especially with the injury issues of Wanindu Hasaranga and the inconsistency of Karn Sharma.

Further, Shreyas has experience at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. He is also a technically good batter, something that the franchise can make use of. The local fans would also be pleased with the acquisiting of the Bengaluru-born cricketer who recently moved to Kerala.
