Chennai Super Kings had a solid auction performance in Dubai. While they made some moves for the present, they also had a keen eye for the future. Now, a few existing players in CSK could have some issues as they might be dropped from the starting XI. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three top CSK players who could be dropped due to the new signings.
1) Moeen Ali
With Devon Conway, Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana certain to nail down three slots, it will be interesting to see who takes the fourth spot. Daryl Mitchell, the recent acquisition, has to be the frontrunner.
If that happens, then, it could be the end of Moeen Ali as a certain starter for CSK. His form has also been indifferent in recent months. Hence, he could be a backup for someone like Mitchell.
2) Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane is one of the top CSK players who could be dropped due to the new signings. After the brilliant start last season, Rahane did not have a great outing. Since then, his domestic performances have also been just average.
If Rahane does not do well in the initial games, he could be dropped. This is mainly because of the arrival of Sameer Rizvi, who is a talented cricketer. He could compete for the No.3 spot if Rahane is in bad form. Hence, Rahane would be under pressure.
3) Devon Conway
For Devon Conway, the rope will be less lengthy if he has a bad run in IPL 2024. While CSK could back him, with Rachin Ravindra in the team, Conway could be dropped if he is in bad form.
