Yes, with the Impact Player rule, the importance has gone but it is always a luxury to have a few extra options for the skipper. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three teams with the best bowling depth for IPL 2024.
1) Gujarat Titans
As per reports, Mohammed Shami is set to be ruled out of IPL 2024. This will be a big blow for the side. Nevertheless, the team has sufficient backups who can step up, although the impact may not be the same as Shami.
Umesh Yadav, Mohit Sharma, Karthik Tyagi and Sushant Mishra form a strong Indian pace core. Josh Little and Spencer Johnson are adequate options as foreign pacers. There is a strong spin core in Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed and Sai Kishore. Hence, there is depth in every sense.
2) Sunrisers Hyderabad
SRH is one of the teams with the best bowling depth for IPL 2024. The franchise hired the likes of Pat Cummins and Wanindu Hasaranga in the recent auctions, which has added depth to the bowling reserves.
There are already good Indian pacers such as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik and T Natarajan. The likes of Akash Singh and Jaydev Unadkat have joined this group. Spin core, comprising Mayank Markhande, Washington Sundar and Shahbaz Ahmed is also good. Not to mention the presence of Marco Jansen.
3) Royal Challengers Bangalore
Good bowling depth does not necessarily mean quality in the bowling department. Nevertheless, RCB has a lot of options to try out in IPL 2024.
The fact that Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell can provide eight overs on their day is a luxury. Mohammed Siraj is the leader of the pace attack while Yash Dayal, Akash Deep, Vyshak V, Lockie Ferguson, Reece Topley and Alzarri Joseph are also a part of it. There are some decent spinners, as well, in the setup.
