Harshal Patel was one of the major releases by Royal Challengers Bangalore before IPL 2024 Auctions. It has to do more with Harshal’s suitability for the Chinnaswamy Stadium than anything else. There are not many better bowlers with slower ball skills in India than Harshal. Hence, there would be some teams that might go after him in the upcoming auctions. Here, we take a look at three teams that could target Harshal Patel in IPL 2024 Auctions.
1) Chennai Super Kings
It was at Chepauk in Chennai that Dwayne Bravo broke many bowling records in the IPL. It was his slower deliveries and variations that helped him take a lot of wickets. Even Harshal was fantastic when he played the bulk of his games at Chennai a few seasons ago.
Now, CSK needs a death bowler to give company to Matheesha Pathirana. Harshal is someone who is different compared to the Sri Lankan. Hence, there is variety. Also, Harshal gives additional batting depth. Therefore, MS Dhoni could go for him.
2) Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR is one of the teams that could target Harshal Patel in IPL 2024 Auctions. Eden Gardens’ pitch is being made slow and is likely to turn a lot in IPL 2024.
Harshal Patel will be a good fit for this track. Also, the boundaries are slightly bigger, which makes Harshal more efficient. Like Sunil Narine is used by KKR as an opener, Harshal can also be utilized in such a role.
3) Delhi Capitals
It was in Delhi that Harshal operated before he moved to RCB. Therefore, his former franchise could be interested in his services again.
Delhi also needs a good death bowler. Anrich Nortje is the only option at the moment. It is not sure if Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed can do well consistently during this phase. Hence, having an option like Harshal will help the franchise a lot.
