Alzarri Joseph was the costliest signing for RCB at IPL 2024 Auctions. While many fans were not happy with this, it needs to be noted that there were a couple of other teams who were also interested in his services. While he could be expensive, Joseph could be a good wicket-taker. On that note, here, we take a look at three teams that bid for Alzarri Joseph before RCB signed him in IPL 2024 Auctions.

1) Lucknow Super Giants

LSG was looking to build a solid pace attack for IPL 2024. Hence, they set their sights on the West Indian pacer. Although they had a purse close to INR 13 Cr, they still went for him until INR 11 Cr.

However, LSG had to exit from the way because they did not have a lot of funds. As a foreign pacer, they signed David Willey and recently picked Shamar Joseph as a replacement for Mark Wood.

2) Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals is one of the teams that bid for Alzarri Joseph before RCB signed him in IPL 2024 Auctions. Anrich Nortje‘s fitness issues are very much in the open recently.

Hence, it was not a surprise that DC was initially interested in Joseph. However, they did not last long in the bidding war. Later in the auction, DC signed Jhye Richardson, who could be the backup for Nortje.

3) Chennai Super Kings

Due to his connect with Joburg Super Kings, CSK was one of the first teams to raise the bid for Alzarri Joseph. The team needed a backup for Matheesha Pathirana and they needed someone who could hit the deck hard in the middle overs. Hence, their choice was perfect.

However, the priority for CSK was not this role. Hence, they were interested only for some time. Later in the auction, CSK signed Mustafizur Rahman as the backup for Pathirana.
