Gautam Gambhir and the management made quite a few tactical mistakes in the recently concluded BGT. Here, we take a look at the list of three tactical corrections Gautam Gambhir must make for the next Test series.
1) Align the natural game of the players to the team philosophy
At times, we could see a few players playing out of their comfort zone. The overall morale of the player could go down here.
From now on, Gambhir has to ensure that the philosophy and the tactics of the team must align with the natural instincts of a player.
2) Gautam Gambhir must play a minimum of five pure bowlers for the next Test series
Playing five pure bowlers is one of the tactical corrections Gautam Gambhir must make for the next Test series. Till now, Gambhir has prioritized batting depth over quality bowling.
However, the five-bowler strategy worked for India in the past. The batting skills of some of these bowlers must come into the picture only later.
3) Include a matchup choice with a left-arm seam option
On a bad day, everything could go wrong. However, it is always best to be prepared for all the situations. The management seemed to miss a trick here.
Someone like Yash Dayal or Khaleel Ahmed could have offered a different option. This would have also reduced the workload of other bowlers.
