3 T20 specialists who will not play in the 2023 ODI World Cup

There is a wide line between the white-ball and the red-ball formats. However, the line becomes very narrow when it is about the two white-ball formats. In fact, a few sides play the ODI format as an extension of the T20 format. Yet, a few T20 specialists have not found a place in the ODI squads of their respective teams. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three talented T20 specialists who will not play in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

1) Tim David – Australia

Tim David only made his Australia debut last year. Till now, the big hitter has only been a part of the T20I setup. However, he has the age and skills to do well in ODIs, as well.

While his brute force will come good in any format, David does have good technique, too. He can don the role of a finisher and on top of it, he can also bowl some off-spin. In ODI cricket, a cricketer has 10 overs to offer and even if David can offer half of it, it would be a great job.

2) Rilee Rossouw – South Africa

Rilee Rossouw is one of the T20 specialists who will not play in the 2023 ODI World Cup. After his return from the Kolpak deal, Rossouw has been a part of only the T20I squad.

That said, he has played ODIs before and would have been a decent option for the Proteas. They do not have a lot of left-handed batting options in the middle-order. Hence, someone like Rossouw would have been suitable.

3) Arshdeep Singh – India

A few still want Arshdeep Singh in the World Cup squad but since he has not been selected for the Asia Cup, it is unlikely to happen. Although India did get tempted to try him out in ODIs, it seems they had a change in plans in the end.

Arshdeep’s new ball value has improved while his returns at the death are always known. He is slowly becoming a complete bowler. Currently, he is restricted only to T20Is. In the future, maybe, India might try him in ODIs.
