Andhra Pradesh, despite not having an IPL franchise will host a couple of games this season. Vizag has been chosen as the home ground for Delhi Capitals for a few games. The recently announced schedule is just for two weeks. As IPL announces the rest of the schedule, we are likely to see some more Tier-2 cities, when it comes to cricket, attract more IPL games. Here, we take a look at the list of three states without an IPL franchise that can host a game in IPL 2024.
1) Himachal Pradesh – HPCA Cricket Stadium, Dharamshala
Dharamshala is one of the most beautiful stadiums right now. Over the last few years, the stadium has been home to Punjab Kings. It won’t be a surprise if that happens again.
Dharamshala deserves IPL fixtures. The stadium looks aesthetic and compared to most other venues, it also offers different conditions and pitch behaviour.
2) Madhya Pradesh – Holkar Stadium, Indore
Madhya Pradesh is one of the states without an IPL franchise that can host a game in IPL 2024. Madhya Pradesh is a cricket fanatic state. In the next round of IPL extension, Indore definitely deserves an IPL franchise. There is also a good stadium that can host all the home matches.
Holkar Stadium is a belter when it comes to the amount of runs scored. No target is enough at this venue. The track is flat and bowlers hardly do well here. At least from an entertainment aspect, fans can enjoy seeing a lot of balls flying in the air.
3) Assam – ACA Stadium, Guwahati
Last season, as well, Assam hosted a few matches. Rajasthan Royals had Assam as their home for a couple of games in IPL 2023.
There are players like Riyan Parag, hailing from Assam, who are doing well. There is also a good fanbase for cricket. Hence, Assam could also host a few fixtures in IPL 2024.
