Recently, there were reports that BCCI is considering a league for retired cricketers. It could happen on the lines of IPL. If the league has players who retired recently, it could be very interesting. On that note, here, we take a look at three recently retired cricketers who could become captains if BCCI announces a new league for retired players.

1) Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik recently signed up for Paarl Royals in the SA20 League. This is after he announced his retirement from all forms of the game. DK is trying to keep the player in him alive even after retirement.

That said, if a league for retired cricketers comes up, DK could be in huge demand. Amongst the recently retired IPL players, he is arguably the most popular. He also adds value with his skills. Plus, he has a lot of captaincy experience. Hence, he could be wanted by many squads.

2) Kieron Pollard

Kieron Pollard is one of the recently retired cricketers who could become captains if BCCI announces a new league for retired players. Although he has retired from international cricket and IPL, Pollard is still active in other leagues.

He is also the captain for most of the sister franchises of Mumbai Indians. Hence, there is no doubt that he will be a strong contender to lead one of the teams.

3) David Warner

David Warner is now retired from all forms of the game. In the IPL, as well, he might not get a lot of attention. This is mainly because of his recent displays, which have not been great.

In this regard, he could even announce his IPL retirement if he gets unsold in the auctions before IPL 2025. If that happens and if there is a new league in place, Warner would be an instant option as a captain.
