3 players who might have to work harder on their second skill to get more chances with Team India

Gautam Gambhir’s initial series has Head Coach proved that he will back multi-dimensional cricketers. Hence, cricketers need to work on their second skill if they want a long run in the blue jersey. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who might have to work harder on their second skill to get more chances with Team India.

1) Ruturaj Gaikwad

Despite doing so well, Ruturaj was not included in the tour of Sri Lanka. One of the reasons could be that he does not offer much with the ball. It is clear that Gautam Gambhir wants as many bowling options in the squad as possible.

That said, if Ruturaj can work on his keeping skills, he can be considered as a backup keeper. The CSK skipper has done the job in the Maharashtra Premier League as a wicket-keeper. Since Rishabh Pant is yet to cement his spot as the wicket-keeper in T20Is, Ruturaj could still have a chance.

2) Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan is one of the players who might have to work harder on their second skill to get more chances with Team India. He might have done well in the last series but the onus will be on the seniors as they return to the Test squad.

Sarfaraz used to bowl a lot of leg spin in his junior days. If he can offer this variety of bowling to the side, he would be picked ahead of many others. This could also ensure him a longer rope with Team India.

3) R Sai Kishore

R Sai Kishore can be in contention for both the Test and ODI squads. While he has two competitors in Tests, he has only Axar Patel in the pecking order for his type of bowling.

However, Sai has to work on his batting to be anywhere near the Indian Team. It is known that he can handle himself with the bat. However, he has to become more reliable and has to work on his power-hitting if he has to get more chances.
