That said, Gill is yet to be tested as a captain. As a player, too, in the T20 format, he is yet to do well. Hence, there is a long way to go.

Rishabh Pant has just returned to mainstream cricket. The management will not add captaincy responsibilities for the moment on him.

However, he shall surely be a contender in the coming years. He is still young and already has quite a bit of experience leading in the IPL. He just needs to be consistent and he could lead Team India at the Olympics.

3) Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is one of the players who could captain India in the 2028 Olympics. Arguably the greatest bowler that Team India has produced, Bumrah is already a legend. He is still near his thirties and surely, he will be a part of the game for at least the next 6 to 7 years.
