There is still time to go for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Hence, right now, we can see a lot of changes happening between tournaments. Gautam Gambhir could be extremely ruthless in some situations. Therefore, some of the non-performers may not get another chance. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who could be dropped if they don’t do well in the Sri Lanka T20I series.

1) Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed could not grab his chances in Zimbabwe. Nevertheless, he does deserve another chance considering the impact he had in IPL 2024. However, the rope might not be too long.

The likes of Yash Dayal have been doing well, as well. Anyways, once the likes of Mohammed Shami return, there will be more competition for a spot. Therefore, Khaleel must do well in this series.

2) Riyan Parag

Riyan Parag is one of the players who could be dropped if they don’t do well in the Sri Lanka T20I series. Firstly, it is not sure if he will get a chance in the playing XI for the initial matches.

That said, Riyan Parag’s selection was criticized by many. The likes of Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who did well in Zimbabwe, were not given another chance. Hence, if Parag gets a game, he must ensure that he grabs the chance fully.

3) Shubman Gill

He might be the vice-captain of the side but it has been a while since Gill had an impactful innings in the T20 format for Team India. Hence, we cannot rule out the scenario of him getting dropped from the side.

For Gill, the concern is that there are too many players behind him wanting the role. The likes of Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad have, in fact, done really well to deserve a spot in the team.
