Royal Challengers Bangalore did not have a great outing in IPL 2023. They had to win a must-win match and they failed to do that. Anyways, the team has a lot of holes that need to be fixed at the earliest. While the auctions will be important for Andy Flower and the team, the trade window can also be used. In the past, RCB has used the trade window to improve the team. On that note, here, we take a look at three players that RCB could target in the IPL 2024 trade window.
1) R Sai Kishore – Gujarat Titans
R Sai Kishore did not get to play a single game in IPL 2023. This is despite him having a good run in IPL 2022. The emergence of Noor Ahmed was the reason for this. It might be the case in IPL 2024, as well. RCB did not get a good performance from Shahbaz Ahmed in IPL 2023. There is a spinner needed for the side and Sai, who recently made his India debut, would be a good option. It would be hard to convince Gujarat Titans but if the player can express his preference, RCB can get their man.
2) Shivam Mavi – Gujarat Titans
Shivam Mavi is one of the players that RCB could target in the IPL 2024 trade window. Sai’s situation also happened to Shivam Mavi in IPL 2023. Mohit Sharma had a good run and hence, Mavi failed to play even a single game. With Harshal Patel losing form, RCB would be desperate to find a good domestic bowler for RCB. It would be great if there is a new-ball bowler because then, RCB can reduce the reliance on a foreign pacer. In this regard, Mavi can be a good option for the franchise. The fact that he is also a decent batter further would increase his value for the side.
3) Vishnu Vinod – Mumbai Indians
RCB is in desperate need of a wicket-keeper in IPL 2024. It is not sure if Dinesh Karthik will play while Anuj Rawat is not in great form. RCB needs an experienced cricketer who can bat in the lower middle order. With most of the elite options taken, RCB can focus on someone like Vishnu Vinod. Mumbai Indians might not release him but RCB needs a player like Vishnu, who has played before for them. In Vishnu, at least for the next season, there would be a good backup option if DK continues to play in the next season.
