Mumbai Indians are in search of some bowlers for IPL 2024. Their batting order is set and is one of the strongest in the competition. On the other hand, KKR released almost their entire pace attack recently. Therefore, a few of these cricketers might interest MI. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players released by KKR whom Mumbai Indians could target for IPL 2024.
1) Shardul Thakur
Despite his inconsistency in T20s, Shardul Thakur will still be a good bowler in the IPL. On his day, he can pick wickets in the middle overs and also do a job at the depth. He is someone who can also bat at No.7 in an IPL XI.
Mumbai Indians might just need such an option in the team. They need improvement in batting depth and would also need someone who can pick wickets out of nowhere. Being from Mumbai, even the local fans would be pleased. Hence, MI could target the Indian cricketer.
2) Lockie Ferguson
It will be interesting to see which foreign pacer MI would target in IPL 2024 Auctions. Based on the current combination, MI can include two foreign pacers in the XI.
Lockie would be a decent fit for MI. Since he can be used as an enforcer, Bumrah can focus mainly on the powerplay and the death overs. This will suit the franchise well.
3) Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav is one of the players released by KKR whom Mumbai Indians could target for IPL 2024. With the introduction of the Impact Player rule, bowlers specialising in one phase of the game have plenty of value now. Umesh is an expert in powerplay bowling.
If MI does not get its main targets, they can settle with Umesh. He would be a bank at Wankhede with three overs at the top. With him opening the bowling with Bumrah, the franchise can afford a foreigner at the other stages or areas of the game.
