A few days ago, there were reports that Hardik Pandya would be ruled out of IPL 2024. However, these rumours were squashed. Nevertheless, considering the injury-prone nature of Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians must plan for a like-to-like backup. They currently do not have that option in the team. On that note, here, we take a look at three players MI must target in the trade window if Hardik Pandya is unfit.
1) Ramandeep Singh
Ramandeep Singh was with Mumbai Indians but he was released. Kolkata Knight Riders took him at his base price in the IPL 2024 Auctions.
The Punjab man would be an apt backup for Hardik. Having played for the franchise before, not much time would be needed for him to settle down. Hence, he is on this list.
2) Rishi Dhawan
Rishi Dhawan is one of the players MI must target in the trade window if Hardik Pandya is unfit. Yes, he may not fit the age criteria but he can be a decent option for Mumbai Indians. Interestingly, even Rishi has played for MI before.
Although Jasprit Bumrah has a good new-ball partner in the form of Dilshan Madushanka, if Nuwan Thushara has to play, Dilshan may not be a part of the XI. Hence, here, someone like Rishi Dhawan can provide services with the new ball. Of course, he also adds batting depth. To some extent, he can replace Hardik in the team.
3) Sanvir Singh
Sanvir Singh is a talented young all-rounder from Punjab. He is currently with Sunrisers Hyderabad team. Seeing the SRH combination, he might not get a lot of games this season.
At MI, he can do a decent job at No.6 or No.7. There is potential and if he comes good, MI can also use him for the future. Therefore, the franchise can target him.
