BCCI recently announced the Indian squad for the upcoming Afghanistan T20I series. There were a lot of surprises in this squad. Here, we take a look at the list of three players lucky to be selected for the Afghanistan T20I series.
India’s squad vs Afghanistan: Rohit Sharma (C), S Gill, Y Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, W Sundar, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar.
1) Tilak Varma
Tilak Varma has been with the Indian Team for a few months now. However, after the initial few games, his performances have been very inconsistent. Hence, with the likes of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer sitting out, it can be considered that Tilak is a bit lucky.
While he has a good game against spin, it is not sure if he can control the game in the middle-overs. The upcoming series will be a good challenge for him.
2) Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube is one of the players lucky to be selected for the Afghanistan T20I series. In the recent chances he got, Dube did not do his best. Also, at the domestic level, his performances have not been great.
It is only because of the absence of other players such as Hardik Pandya that Shivam Dube has got an opportunity. If he does well here, it could help him in the long run.
3) Rohit Sharma
Rohit’s form in ODIs may be good but he has not done well recently in T20Is. Even in the IPL, Rohit Sharma has been disappointing. Yet, he has got a comeback and that too as a skipper.
Rohit can consider himself lucky here. Especially with the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad injured, Rohit may not be the best option at the top. It needs to be seen how he would perform in the next few months.
