3 Players LSG Might Retain Despite Their Poor Performance In IPL 2022

The Lucknow Super Giants finished third on the points table in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. LSG won 9 out of their 14 matches in IPL 2022 and booked a place in the Eliminator against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Lucknow has a chance to win their maiden IPL title in their debut season by registering a hat-trick of wins in the playoffs.

LSG has some important matches remaining in IPL 2022, and after that, they will have to decide which players they will have to retain and release for the next season of the league. Most franchises release the players who do not perform well in an IPL season, but the Lucknow Super Giants may retain the following players despite their disappointing show in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.

1. LSG is likely to retain Andrew Tye after IPL 2022

Andrew Tye was not originally signed by the Lucknow Super Giants at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. The Australian pacer replaced Mark Wood in the squad after the England cricket team star suffered an injury. Tye played three matches, scalping two wickets. He was dropped from the playing XI, but LSG may retain Tye because he is a T20 specialist who is a former Purple Cap winner.

2. LSG will give Ayush Badoni more chances after IPL 2022

Ayush Badoni scored a half-century on his IPL debut, but he was dropped after he scored a total of 161 runs in 13 matches at an average of close to 20. Badoni has shown the talent, so despite his disappointing numbers, he will likely get a contract for the next season.

3. Marcus Stoinis

Marcus Stoinis is one of the world’s best all-rounders. Lucknow signed him because Ben Stokes was unavailable, but Stoinis has scored only 147 runs and picked up four wickets in 10 matches. His role has been quite different this season. His numbers may not show it, but Stoinis has done well in his role for Lucknow, which is why he should be retained for the next season.
