As per reports, Mayank Yadav will be ruled out of IPL. It is a big blow for the Lucknow Super Giants because they are very close to qualifying for the playoffs. They would need to find an ideal replacement for him in the coming days. Here, we take a look at the list of three players LSG can target to replace Mayank Yadav if he is ruled out of IPL 2024.
1) Ishan Porel
Barring Mohsin Khan, LSG has not found a good option for the new ball. Matt Henry played a few games but even he was kept out in the last match.
Ishan Porel is a talented cricketer and has been a part of the IPL before. Hence, he could be a good choice, considering his attributes and what he can offer to the side.
2) Varun Aaron
Varun Aaron is one of the players LSG can target to replace Mayank Yadav if he is ruled out of IPL 2024. Varun, who recently retired from FC cricket, is working as a commentator in IPL 2024.
If LSG needs a player who can replicate what Mayank Yadav has been doing, Varun Aaron can come close. He has pace and can hit the deck hard. Of course, there is a risk of him losing control but that happens to any bowler of this type.
3) Mahesh Kumar
Not many know about Mahesh Kumar from Karnataka. He burst onto the scene a few years ago as a bowler with an action similar to that of Jasprit Bumrah. Since then, he has operated as a net bowler, this time around at RCB.
It is always a risk to bet on such a player. However, when it comes off good, it is most likely going to be a major success. LSG can take this risk now because they anyways are in a good position on the table and have some replacements available on the bench.
