Kolkata Knight Riders released Shardul Thakur before the IPL 2024 Auctions. It was a surprise considering they had hired him in last year’s trade window. While they might go back for him, the preference will be for other alternatives. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players KKR could target to replace Shardul Thakur for IPL 2024.
1) Kartik Tyagi
Kartik Tyagi, who was recently released by Sunrisers Hyderabad, is the most in-demand Indian pacer at the moment. He has the qualities to excel in all phases of the game. It is just that he needs a run of games to prove his skills.
KKR needs a leader of the pace attack. While that might be a foreigner, they can also have someone like Kartik in the mix. He would add better balance to the pace attack and will complement the likes of Harshit Rana.
2) Chetan Sakariya
Chetan Sakariya is one of the players KKR could target to replace Shardul Thakur for IPL 2024. It has been a while since KKR had a good Indian left-arm seamer. In fact, they have not had a good foreign left-arm seamer, as well.
They can make the changes in IPL 2024 Auctions. The likes of Mitchell Starc will go under the hammer and at the same time, someone like Sakariya can also be useful. He suffered a shortage of game time at Delhi. With his variations, he can click at Eden Gardens.
3) Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel will go under the hammer after two years. He would actually be a good fit for the Eden Gardens pitch, assuming it is going to be slow as we saw in the ODI World Cup.
Harshal is also a decent hitter against spin and during the powerplay against pace. KKR can make use of this, as well, if they sign him.
