Team India’s next target will be the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. Pakistan is the host but it is not sure if India would travel there. Despite the success in the recent T20 World Cup, a few players may not be considered for the Champions Trophy. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players in the Indian 2024 T20 WC winning squad who may not be considered for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
1) Sanju Samson
Before the 2023 ODI World Cup, Sanju Samson was in the fray because Rishabh Pant was not being considered for selection. Anyways, Sanju still missed out and SKY made it to the squad.
Now, SKY will be in the fray again and with Pant having returned, Sanju may not be in consideration. Of course, KL Rahul will be the first-choice wicket-keeper in the squad.
2) Yuzvendra Chahal
Chahal is one of the players in the Indian 2024 T20 WC winning squad who may not be considered for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Chahal did not play a single game and the reason might have been his form in the second half of IPL 2024.
The batting depth strategy worked well for Team India in the T20 World Cup. They might go with Axar Patel at No.8 again. This allows only Kuldeep Yadav as the main spinner in the XI. The selectors might go for an option such as Ravi Bishnoi with an eye on the future.
3) Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube was anyways not an option for the ODI format. Hence, he will not be in contention to be a part of this squad.
Apart from the final, Dube did not have a great outing in the T20 World Cup. This could also have an impact on his T20 career going forward. For the ODI setup, No.5 will be for KL Rahul and hence, Dube does not have a spot.
